紀念大會11日在北京人民大會堂舉行，習近平藉孫反獨的意味濃厚。對比前主席胡錦濤在2006年紀念孫中山140週年的講話，習近平講話中首次出現「九二共識」，還提到國民黨。另外在談及統一問題時，習近平6次提及「統一」。外界還注意到，7常委中，只有張德江因出訪越南而未出席大會。

    此外，據香港明報報導，在中共第18屆中央委員會第六次全體會議（六中全會）確定總書記習近平在黨內的核心地位後，中共中央已就「習核心」的表述發出官方版本，稱習近平是「全黨思想上、政治上、行動上」的核心，是「推進民族復興偉業的設計者、引領者，也是知行合一的行動者」。
